Homemade Gift Kids Can Make
This Family Monogram Napkin Holder is made out of air drying clay and very durable. The kids can really get into this Family Monogram craft project and display their artistic abilities. Be sure to lay out a plastic tarp or plastic tablecloth for the kids to work on. Clay can be a messy art product and kids know just how to get it everywhere!
To Make a Family Monogram Napkin Holder Craft Project You Will Need:
Poster board or sturdy thick paper
Pencil
Scissors
Air Drying Clay
Butter Knife (Plastic or Metal)
Tooth Picks, pencils, wooden skewers, or clay tools
Rollin pin
Acrylic Paint
Clear Acrylic Spray Paint
To start this Family Monogram craft project first have the kids draw out their Family Monogram on a piece of paper. You can use one letter to represent the last name or even use Mom and Dad's first initials. They can cut this out with some scissors.
If they want they can trace a letter shaped cookie cutter out onto the paper
Hold your letter Shaped cookie cutter flat the paper. Have the kids trace the Family Monogram cookie cutter loosely.
Next, cut the letter shape out with scissors whether you drew it or traced it from a cookie cutter or stencil.
Break off a hunk of air drying clay and roll it out to a sheet of clay that is about1/2 inch thick. You can use a rolling pin to do this.
Lay the Family Monogram cut out on the clay and trace around it with a toothpick. Repeat this process making two Family Monogram Shapes; they do not have to be the same letter. Cut the shape out with a paring knife or plastic butter knife. Next, cut out a rectangle that is as wide as the base as the Family Monogram cut out and about 3 inches deep. This will be the base of the napkin hold that allows it to stand up.
Tip: Make this letter about two inches thick, the line of the letter. Have ht actual letter be about 5 inches wide and 6 inches tall.
