There is a long-standing tradition that has been popularized by the media that prom night is the night. This is ridiculous. For anyone who has managed to stay virginal through their teens, there is no reason not to finish out the year, or even your high school career that way.

If you have a serious boyfriend or girlfriend, chances are you may have already lost your virginity. So none of this will apply to you. If you have a casual boyfriend or girlfriend that you really like, you may not want to go to prom with them. You may be tempted to fall into the "off like a prom dress" cliche, and wind up deflowered after the big event.

Instead, your date should be a close friend. Go with someone you "don't like likethat." Do you have a friend that if you think about kissing you kind of go, "eww"? Then that is your ideal date for keeping your virginity in tact.

Drinking will definitely undo number one above. If you drink before, at or after the prom, your perspective will change. You could throw a lifetime of virginity down the drain with one or two (more?) stiff drinks. Your date, who is your "friend" might start looking a little too attractive after some booze. You will regret it in the morning.

Seriously. Do not pull out the brand new sexy or hot underwear. Wear comfortable, dress-compatible underwear that is practical, not sexy. Wear some underwear that you do not want to traipse around in.
