Welcome to Atlanta, Traffic Capital of the World

Atlanta metro traffic was voted most likely to make a commuter jump from their car, strip off their clothes and run screaming down the center lane never to be heard from again. And why? It could be all the drivers from Tennessee; but my guess is the lack of
mass transit appropriate to a metropolitan area of Atlanta's size.

Most other cities of have mass transit throughout their main metro areas in order to alleviate traffic and help cut down on auto-based air pollution. Atlanta has a light rail system; but it only serves a limited area and doesn't even come close to the suburbs. Now, without getting into a lot of Southern politics -- which are about as foreign to me as grits, collard greens and NASCAR -- I've been told that the 'burbs don't want mass transit because of the "element" it might bring. Apparently, the common belief is that only criminals use mass transit. Of course, the folks who believe that also think that wrestling is real and wear flannel shirts for formal dining.

So the train system has a high level of suckitude, what about busses? Fuggetaboutit. The only bus from my 'hood to Atlanta is the express to the federal building. Unless you have to meet with your probation officer, its about as useful as trying to understand the difference between "y'all" and "all y'all".
