Always be safe and think before you act, when possible consult your owners manual. Ever had a flat tire? Maybe you have and maybe you haven't. Chances are that you will one day get a flat tire. At that time you will have to figure out how to change a tire and if you've never done it before perhaps its time to learn.
To change a tire first locate the jack and tire iron in your car. The best way to find out where the jack and tire iron are is to look in your cars manual. If you have lost your cars manual you're going to have to search for it. If you own a truck the jack is probably behind the seat. If you own a car the jack is probably in the trunk, you may have to open a panel at the bottom of the trunk to find it. If you own a van chances are the jack is in a panel in the back of the van.
Once you have located the jack and tire iron you must find the spare tire. First check your car manual to see if it tells you where your spare tire is. If you have lost your manual a likely place to find the tire if you own a truck is underneath the truck bed, if you own a car it is probably in the trunk or underneath the trunk. If you own a minivan the tire is probably in a panel behind the rear seat or underneath the van towards the rear.
Take the jack, the tire and the tire iron to the flat tire. Take off the hubcap using the flat end of the tire iron like a pry bar, on some models the hubcap may have plastic nuts on it that need to be loosened to get the hubcap off, if you have a manual double check it to make sure how to remove the hubcap.. Using the tire iron loosen all the nuts on the flat tire a good way to do that is too loosen the nuts in a star pattern or to alternate the nuts you loosen. Don't take the nuts all the way off just yet just loosen them most of the way.
