Recently, my husband and I, our daughter (age 3), my husband's parents, sister and grandma all went down to Panama City Beach, Florida. It was kind of last minute when we decided to go, so most oceanfront hotels were completely booked! Luckily we came across one that was not. When I called the Sandpiper Beacon, they gave me the GREAT rate of $139/nt! Keep in mind this was in the middle of the summer and for 7 people, it was a great deal! They had our room ready when we arrived. It was a nice place, nothing fancy, but it certainly serves its purpose. There was a small cafe, where we at once, it was ok, nothing special. Of course, the best part was that we were right on the beach. The pool was a lot of fun, it has a couple of water slides! There were other games on-site, such as mini golf , pool and more. One of my favorite parts was that the hotel had a "lazy river". I really enjoy those, although it was indoors, I guess it serves better there.
It had a nice little tiki bar on the beach, which was designed great, with thatched roofs over wooden tables, very "beachy". However, when we went down there on a Friday night, there weren't many people there. It was actually pretty boring.
The room was fine. When you walk in the door there is a couch(pullout), small table, and then a kitchen sink. Then there was another door that leads to a bedroom with two double beds. Off the bedroom was the bathroom. Again, nothing fancy, but you're hardly ever in it anyway.
Overall, I would stay there again, but I LOVE to try to stay somewhere different every chance I get. I just like to know what is out there! It's a great place for families with kids, but if you want a quite place, this is not it.
