Johnny Depp's Daugher - Lily-Rose - Recovering After Hospitalization

Lily-Rose, the 7-year-old daughter of Hollywood star Johnny Depp (star of such films as "Edward Scissorhands," "Donnie Brasco," and the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise), is apparently doing "much better" after having been admitted to a British hospital nine days

ago. The reason for her hospitalization has officially remained unidentified, but progress has been made, according a statement from Depp's publicist, Robin Baum.

"We are happy to report that their daughter is doing much better," Baum said, referring to Depp's child with French singer Vanessa Paradis. "The family greatly appreciated the continued support and respect of their privacy."

Previously, the Daily Mirror newspaper had said Lily-Rose was admitted to the hospital more than a week ago, and was said to be in serious condition. The paper also said it knew the location of the hospital and the reason for treatment, but was not revealing specifics out of respect for the actor and his family.

A U.S. publication, In Touch magazine, said the illness was actually blood poisoning, stemming from the child having stepped on a rusty nail. Neither the hospital nor Depp's publicist confirmed the statement.

A source at the hospital Lily-Rose was admitted to, quoted in the Daily Mirror, says the girl is doing well, and so are her parents.

"They are worried sick, but Lily-Rose is getting the very best treatment available. Johnny has not asked for any special favours but just wants the best for his child, like any parent.

"It is such a difficult time for him but he is hanging in there for the sake of his daughter and the whole family is just praying that she gets better. They are taking each day as it comes.

"It's been an emotional rollercoaster for all of them, and he has been finding it hard keeping it together. He's a devoted dad and is spending as much time as he can with Lily."

Depp, who has often talked about how much having children has changed his life, was in England to begin shooting Sweeney Todd, when his daughter became ill. That movie is based on the music by Stephen Sondheim, and the movie will be directed by Depp's director pal, Tim Burton.

I feel terrible for Lily Rose, Johnny Depp and the rest of the family. It's good to hear that they are all doing better.
