New York real estate magnate Stephen Green and his brother Mark Green together formed Green Family Media to buy Air America Radio for 4.25 million dollars on Tuesday. He also posted an announcement on the Huffington Post outlining their plans for the financially troubled radio network.

He began by stating "today my family formally purchases and takes over Air America Radio. Why? Because if progressive values were a stock, now is the time to buy." He goes on to explain the background information that led him to want to buy Air America. He explains some of the history that led to this moment in time, when the tide has turned and the nation hungers for a progressive voice. He presents the case that the time is now, that "if we can't grow and prosper now-given the 110th Congress, given the unmitigated disaster that is Iraq, given a slew of top quality Presidential aspirants-when will we?"

Air America first launched in 2004. And although the network drew an audience that now numbers over 2 million, it has never made money. "Air America Radio is a great idea and iconic name, but it's also been an under performing asset with unrealized potential." Mr. Green said. He realizes that Air America Radio has been a success when it comes to bringing a progressive voice to the airwaves, he promises that it will now be a successful business venture too.

Mr. Green assures listeners that Air America Radio will continue to challenge the dominance of the airwaves by right wing conservative media, writing "For all those who worry about messianic misleaders governing on a wing and a prayer, Air America 2.0 will be an answer. For all those fearful of plutocracy and theocracy, the pro-democracy hosts of AAR's programs will be an answer. If the conservative media continue to spout propaganda and call it news, there's now the alternative of truth, justice, and the Air American way."

Right out of the chute, Mr. Green issued two challenges. The first was to the New Hampshire Republican Party, the second to the editorial page of The New York Post, stating that "dialog beats monologue."
