One of the best things about summer is the ability to spend so many hours outside playing, relaxing, and sunbathing. When you think about it, some of the best summer activities include swinging of some sort.

Please, don't let summer pass you by again without indulging in each of these activities at least once. Here are five of the best ways to swing into summer.

Swing a Baseball Bat

The sport of baseball immediately evokes images of summer. But, unless you are watching a game that involves the Chicago White Sox kick Cubby butt, watching a baseball game is not a lot of fun. So this summer instead of watching a game of baseball get out there and swing the bat around yourself. All you need are a few friends, minimal gear, and an empty field. If you are lacking in any of those departments, you can head over to the local batting cages and still get some exercise.

Swing a Golf Club

You don't have to be a pro golfer to enjoy swinging a golf club, the challenge of a miniature golf course can be just as enjoyable as 18 holes. Whichever game you decide to play, keep in mind that along with all the fun golf is actually healthy for you. Study after study has shown that playing golf helps keep you young, both physically and mentally. Sure crossword puzzles are great, but figuring out how to get the golf ball between the dragons teeth without letting it fall into a pit is ten times more challenging.

Swing Dance

Regardless of where you are from, there is bound to be a distinct type of swing dance culture in your corner of the world. East Coast, West Coast- get out there and find out what you like and get dancing.

Swing in a Swing

You don't have to be ten to enjoy a swing, but in case you have forgotten how try these ideas. Porch swing, tire swing, rope swing, park swing, swinging from a tree- these are all options that everyone can enjoy. Swinging does require a little physical exertion, but honestly it is a very minimal amount. If you really want to be lazy, have someone else swing you.

Great article! I couldn't help but giggle I haven't been able to swing a golf club since we left home but perhaps we'll find the time this summer. Swinging in a hammock though is something I could get into!

I miss my hammock. But you'll never catch me with a baseball bat -- I'd probably brain myself with it. I'm so uncoordinated. :-P

Great reminder- time to get out the hammock.
