With the advent of a new program offering page view bonuses for Associated Content Content Producers (CP's), interest in page views is at an all time high. But have you read the Associated Content forums lately? There are discussions in the Associated Content forums on page views that are a bit disheartening. One Associated Content Content Manager (CM) advises us Associated Content CPs that we gotta stop thinkin' we done good if an article gets 500 page views in a week. 500 page views is peanuts, from Associated Content's perspective. I won't even tell you the most page views one of my Associated Content articles ever got. Why don't you click through all seventy-something of them and see if you can guess? Make sure and read every page, because you might miss critical clues if you don't!

Then there's the discussion about what types of articles get lots of page views. Those celebrity articles are right up there on top. Associated Content CMs tactfully don't mention what's on the bottom of the Associated Content popularity list, but presumably it includes all the superb quality writing about topics like...travel, my favorite topic to write about. Take pity on my poor little travel articles and go give them a click or two, pretty please? I can't write celebrity slop; my gag reflex is too strong. With all the puking I'd be doing, my computer keyboard would get gummed up. News generates page views too; problem is Associated Content only pays $5 for a news article. If you care about upfront money, better go with the celebrity stuff. And if you can't stomach the thought, you will just have to think creatively. That's what I've been doing for fifteen long minutes, and I have come up with soon to be tested and true ways to increase Associated Content page views. See those bolded sentences up there? Respectively, I call those How to Increase Your Associated Content Page Views 1 (send your readers on a scavenger hunt), and How to Increase Your Associated Content Page Views 2 (solicit pity).

Page views are money in the bank.

Great article. Thanks for doing this. I was just bemoaning the non-existent de-rater's recent attack on several of my recent pieces. Somehow, my stuff was flying up and down all day today. Guess that means someone was reading. Thanks for giving me a positive outlook again. Just for fun, check this out: AC DE-RATER DELUXE www.associatedcontent.com/article/393118/ac_derater_deluxe.html

Good tips. Especially how to deal with the "derater" who supposedly doesn't exist, but we all know does. Well done.

Great tips. My biggest problem is I can not just write to write. I have to feel something about the things I am writing.
