What to Do and Where to Go on Your Grand Cayman Vacation
Embed:
OverviewThere are three islands that compose the Cayman Islands, and Grand Cayman is the largest and most developed of the three. George Town, the capital of Grand Cayman, is the home to some of the best shopping and dining experiences of any Caribbean island. Grand Cayman is enclosed by gorgeous white-sand beaches that spill onto the sparkling turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Grand Cayman's center is George Town, found in the island's bend and home to the island's international airport. Northwest of George Town, you'll find the Seven Mile Beach and West Bay. East of George Town you'll find, from closest to furthest respectively, Bodden Town, North Side, and East End. The other two islands that make up the Cayman Islands, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac, are a short boat ride to the east of Grand Cayman.
Sightseeing Attractions
Grand Cayman's Seven Mile Beach is commonly referred to as one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. The beach is interesting to visit for more than simply its natural beauty, but its aesthetics are its primary draw. The primary attractions of George Town include the Cayman Islands National Museum, the remains of Fort George, and the Cayman Maritime Treasure Museum. The 65-acre Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park and the two mile National Trust's Mastic Trail are the primary sightseeing attractions of North Side. The Cayman Turtle Farm in West Bay is home to over 14,000 turtles, from babies to some that weigh more than 400 pounds. West Bay is also the location of Hell, a unique shop that carries rocks that are meant to symbolize what hell might look like.
