The iRiver 5GB H10 is a stellar example of a sleek yet durable mp3 player. Unlike the popular iPod devices, it's produced by iRiver, a South Korean electronics company. I purchased mine last year, and I've truly enjoyed using it.

The H10 versions I have only holds, as previously mentioned, 5 gigabytes worth of data. However, it is priced quite a bit less than an iRver of the same capacity, and snagging it on eBay saved me a truckload of money on top of that. I received mine from a seller of many different types of mp3 players, and started using it right away. Unfortunately, the seller included a battery that didn't hold a charge very well. I sent this back to him, and received a fresh battery that worked great in exchange. Finally, I could use my iRver H10.

Unlike an iPod, the H10 uses Windows Media Player to sync and exchange data with. I had to use Media Player to send my songs that I wanted, and my pictures, (H10 has an image viewer as well, although this is pretty small) to my H10. It took a couple of times to get it to connect, but it finally did. This seems to be a common problem amongst users of the H10, but it was fixed with help I discovered by searching online through Google.

The scrolling function works very well, and the key layout is very simple. Nothing to intense here, yet it gets the job done nicely. I'm a bit disappointed about the small screen size, especially when it comes to viewing images, but I suppose it's a trade off for its cheaper price.

It's been very, very reliable. The fresh battery holds a charge well, the music never seems to mess up, or get lost on the player, and the sound quality is excellent. You can even add music and files (did I mentioned you can view Microsoft Word documents on it?) through My Computer, instead of using Windows Media Player. However, it's probably better to use Media Player to sync this device with, as it seems to be easier.
