The #1 tip most salespersons will share with new salespeople is to build a personal relationship with each and every client. A good solid relationship will sell just about anything to anyone. Treat your customer like a close friend. Get to know them and let them know you. Keep in touch and let them know that you are not only thinking about them, but that you have their best interest on your mind.In today's world so much of our contact is being made by email, phone, IM or text message. Nothing beats the personal visit to tell someone that they are worth your time and effort. Face to face visits really builds trust. Customers buy when they trust you.
Tip #2 is that customers do not want to hear excuses about what is not happening with their product or order. Customers want to know how you are going to solve their problem, increase their bottom line, give them real value for their money. If you encounter difficulty with a customer's order, do not make excuses about the problem. Concentrate on discussing your solution to the problem instead.
Tip #3 is to always stay in contact with the customer throughout the entire sales process from initial contact, through the sale, to the follow-up. Make sure you are available to your customer when they need you. Customers get very ansy when they feel abandoned. Make sure you return calls promptly.
Tip #4 Make it easy for your customers to say yes. Always ask for the order and lead the customer to the sale. Show the customer how to buy. Do whatever you can to minimize paperwork, decrease any costs to the customer, give the best buying experience possible. Give suggestions and choiceds where appropriate. Be as helpful as possible. Anticipate your customer's needs during the buying process and have the solutions ready.
Tip #5 Do not pressure or try to speed up the buying process.
Tip #6 Always give more than the customer expects to receive. A free gift, or extra bonus, extra service, an add-on, samples or free delivery. People not only appreciate these extras they remember you gave them.
