Courtney Love Being Sued by Drug Rehab Facility

Courtney Love, 42, lead singer of Hole and widow of Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain, is being sued over a rehab clinic bill the clinic says the singer never paid.

According to the complaint, Love paid $10,000 of her bill shortly after entering the facility in late 2005, but still owes more than $181,000, despite repeated attempts by the clinic. "The services were rendered and the costs incurred at Defendant's special instance and request; Defendant promised to pay for the services and costs," the clinic claims in the suit. "Neither the whole nor any part of the above sum has been paid, although demand therefore has been made repeatedly."

According to TheSmokingGun.com, which has a copy of the complaint available for download, Beau Monde International, a ritzy drug rehab center in California, claims the singer spend three months at the clinic back in 2005, and has still not paid her tab.

The lawsuit, filed in Superior Court, claims that Love was treated at the firm's location on Newport Beach, which is a mini-clinic, serving no more than five clients at a time. The site, according to the clinic's web site, offers one-on-one treatment, complete confidentiality and privacy, anonymous locations, all in "ultra-private, ocean-view houses in exclusive neighborhoods."

The facility describes its mission as helping "very successful, high profile individuals who are struggling with substance abuse, addictions, compulsive behavior, burnout, and other life/health issues."

Howard Weitzman, Love's attorney, said on Friday that the lawsuit "will be resolved to the satisfaction of all parties shortly." In an interview with E! Online, Weitzman attempted to downplay the suit. "Often parties have differing points of view on what may be owed which is why lawsuits like this are settled quickly. It's often not the 'if' but the 'how much' that seeds these types of disputes," he said.
