We live in a society that is inundated by catalogues and online shopping, which at times is convenient. It doesn't always work, but it is usually convenient. There are certain purchases however that are practically scientific and require that we go in person to be measured properly. Such is the case with running shoes. This article discusses how to buy running shoes.

We put enough stress on our knees as back as is it with all of the things that we do. To put on any pair of shoes and assume it is okay to run in them is suicide. It is very important to know how to buy running shoes. Running shoes are made rather scientifically based on the gait and shape of ones foot. There are a couple of things to consider in order to know how to buy running shoes properly.

You must consider whether or not your foot is narrow and thin, fat and possibly flat, whether or not you have a high arch, and more importantly what type of gait you have. The shape of the foot along with our posture and weight normally determines how to execute the placement of our foot when running, and how the pressure is applied to the heel and sole of the shoe. Proper cushioning and padding in a shoe are what protects the rest of our body, not only our feet. It is important to go into an athletic store and have your foot measured properly to determine the proper size and shoe for your specific foot.

If you are not sure what type of foot you have, a good way to find out is to wet your foot and then step onto a ceramic tile floor and look at the shape it leaves. This will give you a clue as to whether you are a supernator or a pronator, and you will thus buy your shoe accordingly. The arch support, cushioning, and padding are different based on foot type, as is the treat and material make up of the shoe.
