Coral Castle in Homestead Florida

Coral Castle, in Homestead, Florida, is a monumental structure consisting of huge stone blocks each weighing several tons. The castle was seemingly built single-handedly by a somewhat reclusive man by the name of Edward Leedskalnin. He appears to have built this castle using only simple tools. There are many mysteries surrounding this man and the castle he constructed. Some believe that he possessed technology that we simply don't understand yet. Others believe that he possessed supernatural powers. Like Stonehenge and the pyramids of Giza, the Coral Castle is an amazing feat of ingenuity that baffles the mind.

Edward Leedskalnin began construction on what he called "Rock Gate Park" in 1921. The name was changed to Coral Castle after his death. He built the structure in Florida City, Florida. He reportedly refused to let anyone see him while he was working on the castle. Naturally people were very curious about just how he was raising these huge stones without any help. It is said that when asked how he did it he replied that he used only a "perpetual motion holder," whatever that may be. Some teenagers claim to have seen him working on the castle. They say that they saw the huge stones floating through the air on their own. Whether this is true or not remains to be seen.

In 1936 it seems that Edward had some privacy issues. He decided to move the entire castle and it's surrounding stone structures 10 miles away to Homestead, Florida, where the castle is now. This undertaking took three years to complete. He continued working on the castle at his new location until he died of malnutrition in 1951.
