The month of April is important for a lot of reasons. It is Keep America Beautiful Month, National Child Abuse Prevention Month, Holocaust Remembrance Month, and Autism Awareness Month. But did you know that April also is important for a lot of other reasons, some of them rather unusual. April is National Frog Month and National Poetry Month, and on a larger scale April is International Guitar Month and International Customer Loyalty Month. Looking for something to get your mouth watering? April is also known as National Soft Pretzel Month, Fresh Florida Tomato Month, National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Month, and National Fresh Celery Month. If some of these unusual holidays make you laugh, you should also know that April is National humor month as well.
If celebrating the whole month is too much for you there are weekly events that you can enjoy as well. Be Kind to Spiders Week, Astronomy Week, and Medication Safety Week all take place during the first week of April. The second week brings even more fun with National Bra Fit Week, National Gardening Week, and Reading is Fun Week. If you are not burned out from the festivities of the first half of the month there is much more. Organize Your Files Week, Explore Your Career Week, and National Secretary Week are celebrating during the third week of April. And during the last week of April we can enjoy National TV-Turnoff Week, National Volunteer Week, and National Playground Safety Week. There is enough going on to keep the streamers and decorations up all month long.

Did You Know?
The origin of April Fool's Day is uncertain, but the current thinking is that it began around 1582 in France with the reform of the Gregorian Calendar under Charles IX. New Year's celebrations were moved from March 25 - April 1 to January 1.
