I don't believe in comparison of parents...especially a step-mom vs. a biological one (note I refuse to use the word "REAL") I recently read an article that prompted me to write so much more then a comment. Big shock if you've read any of my other writing you know I am quite long winded. You should see my phone bill. I am one of the countless victims of divorced parents. Apparently they didn't divorce right the first time so they both did it again. Myself? Well, this is about the effect of my mothers...not my own divorce. That I will save for later.

My biological mother is incredibly beautiful. She is an extremely talented concert pianist, she is brilliant in her problem solving, intelligent to the point of obnoxious (she can truly define any word in the English Language). She is a delicate debutante type that wished for her daughter a collegiate life filled with friends and schools that had some kind of Ivy involved (I thought she meant things that look like Ivy, so I cut it up and smoked it, that's not what she meant!) She groomed me in the arts of fine wine, Mexican culture, Manicures, Pedicures and gave me basic training on how to be all about me. She showed me the five star hotels, and had me listen to Beethoven and Debussy. She showed me strength to be on my own as she partied with all of her bra burning friends, living by the philosophy of "I don't need the sperm donor." She worked every day of my life and rewarded herself generously...showing me that hard work pays off at Bloomies and Filenes. Never buy fake leather, it's tacky. Always send Thank Yous. Her motto "Living Well is the Best Revenge" She has attended my kids hockey games with her fur coats and bling. But, she is fun and crazy...I don't know many grandmothers that visit bi-monthly giving plenty of WAM (walking around money),or whom know all of their grandkids friends, and make up crazy nick names for the kids and their lifestyles.
