Sickles High School Yearbook Photo Exposes Girl's Private Parts
A Sickles High School yearbook photo that allegedly exposes a 16-year-old girl's private parts has caused the girl so much embarrassment that she refuses to go to school for the remainder of the year.
The girl, who is a junior at Sickles Hight School in Citrus Park, Florida, says she found out about the photo Monday, when the Sickles High School yearbook was distributed to the school's senior class. It shows the girl sitting in the front row of a group picture of the pottery club wearing a green dress. The humiliated girl admits that she didn't wear underwear that day to avoid showing a panty line.
Interestingly, school officials say that what appears to be the girl's private parts are in actuality a shadow.
Now, it is only a matter of time before an unedited version of the Sickles High School yearbook picture goes viral on the Internet. Not only will this further embarrass the girl, but it casts a huge spotlight on one of the huge downsides of the Internet. All too frequently, invasive pictures like this make their way onto the Internet and cause a tremendous amount of emotional damage. Thus far, the girls name has not been made public, but it is only a matter of time before it is.
It is quite possible that the Sickles High School yearbook photo and the girl will become inextricably linked in perpetuity. In addition to all the humiliation, it might also cause the girl problems when looking for a job, or she might be spurned by potential suitors - there's no end to all the potential problems.
One cannot deny all the wonderful advantages the Internet offers. But there's also a dark side. And this is something that people did not have to worry about when I was growing up.
When I was in middle school, a boy brought a bunch of pictures to school that he took of another student - a girl who had a crush on him - with her pants and panties pulled down to her ankles. Nothing was left to the imagination. He deceived this poor girl into thinking that he would keep the revealing photos private. But nothing could have been further from the truth.
