Top 5 Fun Places for Kids in the Lake Norman NC Area
I live in a Catawba county in NC. We enjoy waterfront living and I want to share with you the fun times we have found in this central west North Carolina region. Here is my top 5.
1. Lake Norman Lake Fun
Spending time on and in Lake Norman is one of my favorites. There are a few different ways to do this. You can rent a boat at many marinas around the lake or use a boat rental company. There are half day rentals, full day rentals and weekly rentals. Some boat rental companies even have deliveries. My friends have always used Carolina boat rentals; here is their website http://carolinaboatrentals.net/index.html.
Another way to enjoy the lake is to visit Lake Norman State Park and spend the day at the beach. The beach is located in Troutman NC. It's affordable and the kids have a blast there for the day. Here is their website

If you have your own boat there are numerous boat launch sites. Stumpy Creek Park and Boat Landing is a great one. There is a 2 dollar a day fee to launch your water craft. Here is there website http://www.co.iredell.nc.us/Departments/Recreation/stumpy.asp.
2. North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro.
Whether you like animals, sculptures, birds, forests, streams or plants this zoo has it all. It's a ton of fun for the kids and educational as well. They have 500 acres of exhibits that mimic the wildlife's natural settings. You can watch the polar bear swimming in his pond through very thick glass, that's my favorite. Being at the Zoo is as though you are walking from Africa's grasslands to North America's Arctic Coast but all in one place. Check out their website http://www.nczoo.org/index.cfm.
3. Greensboro Children's Museum
As you can tell by the title, this museum is great for the curious growing minds. Children can shop scan and buy pretend groceries, use a real ATM to get kid cash. It has a real us postal jeep, a cockpit of a DC-9 jet, a Greensboro fire department tanker, plus so much more. They will be busy for hours. Here is their website http://www.gcmuseum.com/about/index.html.
4. Wet and Wild Emerald Pointe Water Park
