Paper towels are a wonderful cleaning product. With paper towels you can quickly cleanup a spilled pop or wipe down your counter tops. They are also handy when you're eating a messy meal like barbeque, but is that all they are good for?

New Uses for Paper Towels #1: Drain Fried Foods

If you fry foods properly, the food will not soak up much grease at all, but to ensure that any excess grease is removed, place fried foods on paper towels. This is a wonderful way to drain fried foods because they aren't dangerous. People used to drain fried foods on newspaper, but this has proved to be unhealthy because of the ink used to print the newspaper.

New Uses for Paper Towels #2: Cleaning Mirrors

Another new use is cleaning mirrors. While many people may prefer to clean their homes with a rag, mirrors are best cleaned with a paper towel. These are the best option because they don't leave lint on the mirror. Also paper towels can be disposed of helping to ensure that you don't mix chemicals as you move through your home cleaning different items.

New Uses for Paper Towels #3: Cook Bacon in the Microwave

Cooking bacon creates a large mess. Not only do you have the leftover grease to deal with, but you also have to clean bacon grease off your stove. To cook bacon in the microwave, you will need a microwave safe plate, several sheets of paper towels, and of course the bacon. On top of the plate, place several sheets of paper towels and then 5 - 6 strips of bacon. Repeat this process, ending with layers of paper towels. Cook on high for 6 minutes or until the bacon reaches the desired doneness.

New Uses for Paper Towels #4: Storing Fresh Herbs

How you use paper towels to store herbs depends on the type of herb. For herbs that need water to stay fresh, you will wet the paper towel and then wrap it around the herbs and store them in a plastic bag. For herbs that need to stay dry, wrap the herbs in a dry paper towel, which will absorb excess moisture, and then place the herbs in a plastic bag.

I have a new one for ya: weatherproofing. We had gaps around our doorframe and couldn't get weatherstripping in them, so we stuffed them with paper towels. You can't even see it, but it keeps the cold air out. :)
