If you are looking for ways to incorporate Christ into your homeschool this Easter, read on. Following are a few ideas to get you started.

The ideas are divided up into three categories: one each for the younger children, the slightly older kids, and teens. But if your homeschool is anything like mine, you will find all of the children wanting a hand in each activity and they can easily be adapted to fit your needs.

For the Younger Set

Young children, preschool through 2nd or 3rd grades can make finger puppets and reenact the Resurrection of Christ. This can be done easily with construction paper and yarn. The puppets need not be too detailed. The idea is to have fun, be creative and help your young child understand the Easter story.

If the older children want to participate, suggest they help with a stage and props for the puppet show.

Another great way for your young children to experience the Resurrection story is with a play board. You may be able to find these, made of flannel or stickers, at craft and Bible stores. Or, for more hands on fun, you and your child could make one together out of construction paper. Laminate the pieces for sturdiness. Attach sticky Velcro on the back of each, and a strip of opposing Velcro across the scene so that your child can stick and re-stick the figures again and again.

For the Pre-Teens

For the upper-elementary children, one fun activity is to make their own Resurrection scene using paper mache. You can make homemade paste using flour and water. One word of caution: projects made with homemade paste can attract bugs. If you plan to keep the finished creation for a while, seal it well with clear varnish.

Balloons make great starting points for paper mache projects. To make a tomb, blow up a balloon, tie it off, and cover almost completely with paper and paste. Leave only an opening for the door to the tomb. When the paste and paper has dried, pop the balloon and you have a tomb. Of course you will need a stone as well, to lay across the door. Figures could be made of clothespins and scraps of fabric.

For the Teenagers
