Decorating on a dime, might be the best description of the type of budget many kids have for decorating their own spaces. Decorating personal spaces such as bedrooms, outdoor clubhouses, or work space areas for homework or computer tasks, can give kids a chance to personalize their space. Kids do not need much funding to make their decorating projects a reality. Many simple ideas can make dramatic changes to any kids' space.Crafty Creations
Kids are naturally creative. Many projects and crafts can become room art with a few steps. Young artists can save a favorite painting or drawing with a poster frame. If a certain theme or design is the goal, kids can create collages, pictures, or use photographs to match their favorite decorating theme. Several pictures can be grouped and hung on a wall to create a unique wall decoration. Puzzles can be preserved with some Puzzle Saver, usually sold for about $5 at most stores. Puzzles that are preserved can be framed or used as a desk mat.
If kids prefer to change their artwork decorations frequently, a large corkboard can be purchased and hung in a room to display all kinds of artwork.
Details and Designs
Kids can use many different methods to add some details and decoration to a room. Poster board can be used to create unique stencil cut outs to use with some paint on furniture, walls, and storage containers. A small can of paint, a paint brush, and some masking tape are all that's needed to create stencil designs. Taping each stencil to hold it down and carefully painting within the open area will give kids a fun painting project that avoides excessive mess and expense. Parents should supervise any painting projects for safety.
Wallpaper borders can often be found at discount stores. A self-stick border can make any room look finished. Wallpaper cut outs can be used to add decoration to rooms too. Some kids may want to decorate furniture, doors, or other smaller areas with wallpaper cut outs. Self-stick decals are an alternative that can be very inexpensive. Dollar stores often have a few packs of decals in differnt themes available.
