I recently conducted an online interview with the band ProCon. They have signed with US indie label Cochon Records, despite the fact they are from Canada. The interview went as followed:RW: Why did you choose the name ProCon?
PC: We like it because it's pretty ambiguous yet meaningful. Good, Evil, Black, White, Positive, Negative....it's also one of those phrases that pops up in conversation but isn't quite a cliché....yet....lol...the fact that it could be an abbreviation for "Professional Con" isn't lost on us either. Apparently one of our fans in France informed us that "Con" is French slang for a...part of the female anatomy and we find that amusing and somewhat appropriate.
RW: Who all is involved in the band? Can you tell me a little about them?
PC: There are two of us. Count Feedback plays guitar, and synths, and programs beats. Nobody really knows where Count Feedback hails from...rumor has it he was built from robotic parts and leftover transplant organs...he runs on pure electricity. I am Countess Christsmasher, and I am the blackest of black sheep in my blue-blooded family. I was exiled from my Swiss home after giving up a career as an opera star to become a sleazy synth punk. Keyboards and vocals are my weapons of choice in ProCon.
RW: How and when did you guys hook up and form this band?
PC: The Count and I met in Canada, we were introduced by a mutual friend a couple of years ago at a recording studio. It was pretty obvious that we had the same retro-futurist leanings when it came to music. I also remember being very impressed by Count's ability to freak out on stage and not miss a note. Once we hooked up, we started recording rather quickly. I think Canada was a little scared by us, so we ended up signing to US indie label Cochon Records instead.
RW: You may think this is completely random, but that's the point. What is your favorite cartoon character?
PC: We're both really into Harvey Birdman (caaaw!) and Stephen Colbert's "Alpha Squad 7: Lady Nocturne - A Tek Jansen Adventure" series.
RW: Who are some of your influences?
