Remodling; the very word strikes fear into the heart of even the staunchest of homeowners. But there are some easy, simple tips that can keep your project 'up and running.'

Hopefully, you've gotten the walls up by the time you look this up, but just in case you haven't, lets do a quick rundown.
By now, you should have done all the tearing down you intend to do, because that's the easy part. I highly reccomend getting all of the redundant material out of the way; you might need a lot of trash bags, by the way.
After that, you'll need your sheet-rock, screws, and hopefully, someone to help you wrestle around the fragile stuff.

Anyhow, provided you've done all that, you've gotten to a hard part. You've got your walls up, but in the meantime; they look kind of blank, and there's all those seams to worry about.

Taping, is, in it's own right, an art form, and takes three or four extra arms. You'll need some of that tape; It's useless for anything but sheetrock, because even though it looks like masking tape, it's basically just a strip of heavy paper.
You'll need to get that tape slathered up real good with your sheet rock dope [You can either buy the stuff in the bucket, or the powder you mix with water. Personally, I prefer the pre-made stuff.]

When you get it to the point it's slippery and floppy, you stick it to your seam with great care, smoothing all the while with your putty knife, you might want to use a big one; five inches or so. Once you've got it smooth, let it dry.

That's right, let it dry, completely. Do NOT try to mess with it in the interim, because if you dent it all up; you'll regret it later.

After you've taped all your seems and corners, filled all of your screw holes; and let it all dry. [If you've got time, I recommend letting it dry for a good twenty-four hours, if I were you.]

Takeaways
  • Drywalling can be a hassle.
  • Using premade sheetrock dope is easier than mixing your own.
  • You can cut costs by using a regular heavy grade paint roller.
Did You Know?
Some people believe that eating sheet rock dust is good for their hair and finger nails; no joke!
