Cancer. It is one of the leading causes of mortality in the planet today. In the U.S. alone, breast cancer is the leading cause of death among women. To add to this already scary fact, statistics show that there is a new diagnosis of breast cancer every two minutes, every fourteen minutes somebody dies of the disease, 1 out of 8 women will be having the disease, not to mention that an astounding 85% of the diagnoses do not even have a family history of the illness.

But cancer research has never ceased in bringing about hope to every individual that is diagnosed with the illness. Many scientists and researchers from leading universities focus their energies in making advancements in information and medical researches. Most of these competitive doctors and even some surgeons devote their talents and expertise to combating this fatal illness.

Most of these scientists and physicians agree that each patient has a different coping mechanism, medical needs and even dissimilar breast cancer characteristics. At the Elliot-Elliot Head Breast Cancer Research and Treatment Center, for instance, it is their goal to provide unique assistance to individuals. This Treatment Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana does not only aim to give individualized service but they also provide the necessary examinations, diagnostic testing, surgical procedures and even post-operative treatment. The Magee Women's Hospital also has the same aims as that of the Elliot-Elliot Head Breast Cancer Research and Treatment Center.

Professor John Condeelis of the Yeshiva University did another breakthrough on breast cancer research. His research was focused on targeting invasion signatures of tumors of the mammary glands. According to his extensive research, chemotherapy is not capable of killing tumor cells. The good thing about his study is that he and his team of experts have all agreed that they can now isolate tumor cells so that it could prevent healthy cell invasion.
