During the past few years, violent crime has spread across the teenage community. Stories continue to blow up across the front page about youngkids killing other kids. How are we to deal with these children turning so violent at such a tender age?
First off, labeling these kids as predators, maniacs or monsters does not help. This only creates an unneeded insecurity between adults and kids. Second, it is imperative that we do not place these children back into their normal environment without first providing them with some major therapeutic intervention. So besides these options, what else can do do?
Unfortunately, it is impossible to detect and help every child facing problems. Thankfully, there is an abundance of programs available out there that have been installed to help prevent kids from going bad. Through kindness, the instilling of good values and care, a lot of kids can be prevented from going bad. The sooner a kid is discovered as requiring some sort of help, the higher the chances we have of preventing him or her from going bad.
Violent teenagers typically grow up in violent residences. Therefore, treating the child means treating the entire family. This includes realistically confronting domestic violence. Furthermore, the child's behavior at school must also be dealt with. This includes the teen's relationship with fellow peers. Teachers must be responsible for creating environments that welcome all students and promote tolerance. This will help teach the youngsters the importance of valuing each other's lives.
