John Smoltz Weds the Other Kathryn Darden, Not This Kathryn Darden!
Google Alerts delivered ten alerts to my inbox on Wednesday informing me that Kathryn Darden had just married Boston Red Sox pitcher John Smoltz on May 16. The reason I received the alerts is my name happens to be Kathryn Darden. Then I began to get messages and emails inquiring about my newfound matrimonial state, as well as numerous visits and pingbacks to my blog.John Smoltz - Baseball Star
The offshoot of all this is I am suddenly paying attention to a baseball player I wasn't really aware of before, and I discovered John Smoltz is an interesting person. John Smoltz was with the Atlanta Braves for more than 20 years where he had an award-winning career, even snagging the Cy Young Award in 1996. In January of 2009, John Smoltz signed a one-year contract with the Boston Red Sox where he is expected to join their pitching rotation in June.

John Smoltz is a Christian and is Chairman of the Board at King's Ridge Christian School in Alpharetta. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church in America. He is also involved in the development of a new Christian school in the metropolitan Atlanta area. The John Smoltz Foundation supports several charitable projects in the Atlanta area. Smoltz was married for 16 years to wife Dyan before their divorce in 2007.

On Saturday, May 16, John Smoltz married Kathryn Darden - the other Kathryn Darden. They were married at Smoltz's Alpharetta, Georgia, home with 70 of their friends and family present at the ceremony. Kathryn Darden has two children by a previous marriage and had just inherited four more by wedding John. Although the wedding took place on Saturday, it only started making the news on Wednesday.

John Smoltz and his new bride Kathryn Darden Smoltz are currently in Fort Myers, Florida, where Smoltz is rehabilitating from recent shoulder surgery. Smoltz's team members reportedly plan to have a celebration for him after the season ends.

I thought this was so funny. When I went to Google hot trends the other day and I saw your name was number #2, 4, and so on I was like how freaking cool is that I know her. Then when I read the articles I find out it was a different Kathryn. Fun read.

It's interesting to find out someone else has your name... but it can create a lot of confusion as well. I thought that you had just gotten married so came to give my congrats, but see now that that was not the case. An amusing write up... enjoyed :)
