If you are a serious baker who wants to make some extra money, one way to do so is by entering baking contests. Most bakers here about them, but are not sure how much money it will take to enter, the forms they have to fill out, and other small details. In a
lot of major baking contests, contestants can enter for free and many entries are accepted by e-mail. Here are a few baking contests that may interest the serious baker.
2007 Hershey's Cocoa Classic, 20th Anniversary, Cake Baking Contest. The contest is open to anyone who is a Pennsylvania Resident and entrries must be a frosted layered chocolate cake from scratch (no mixes are allowed.) For more information can visit their website at http://pafairs.org.
The 43rd annual Pillsbury Bake Off is open for entries until April 22, 2007. You can submit your entries online. Their categories include Pizza Creations, Breakfast and Brunches, Entertaining Appetizers, Old El Paso, Mexican Favorites, and Sweet Treats. The Grand Prize is 1 million dollars. The Colorado State Fair is hosting the Fleischman's Yeast" Best Ever Baking Contest. Entries will be judged on creativity, flavor, appearance, and texture. Winners will have a chance to win on a national level. Fleischman will pick a grand recipe out of three regions: Northern, Central, and Southern. Entries will be taken between now and Aug 27 2007. USA Rice Federation's 2007 " Rev Up Your Rice" Recipe Contest. Entries must be enter, either online or postmarked by, Sunday April 15, 2007. Send in a original recipe for an entree, salad, soup, side dish, or DESSERT that uses one cup of uncooked U.S grown rice. Recipes must include: recipe title, category, and type of rice used.
