I'm a Nicholas Cage fan so I allowed my husband to drag me to Ghost Rider despite the fact that it is not really my type of movie. Nicholas Cage plays Johnny Blaze, a stunt motorcycle performer who has unfinished business with Roxanne Simpson (Eva Mendes), who pops back into his life at what turns out to be a very inconvenient time.

You will see the past between the pair acted out by Matthew Long and Raquel Alessi, in which they plan to run away together, but fate steps in the way. It seems the two still have strong feelings for each other after all these years.

Peter Fonda is very "devil-like" in his role as Mephistopheles. He gets Johnny Blaze to sign a contract, causing him to become the Ghost Rider. A ghost rider is like a bounty hunter, his job is to retrieve the souls purchased by Mephistopheles.

Long ago an old cowboy ghost rider on horseback had hidden a contract to an entire town's souls. Mephistopheles wants it, but so does his nemesis, Blackheart. (Wes Bentley) The two of them are trying to use Johnny to find the contract, which is hidden on sacred ground they cannot enter.

Blackheart has three goons working for him, represented by different elements. Two of these are hardly worth mentioning, but Matthew Wilkinson stands out as Abigor, the wind. He was outstanding.

This film is a real stretch of the imagination in that the ghost rider could do the things he did and it would cause so little notice in the news and not be made a lot more of than it was. I am sure if those types of things were happening it would be much bigger news than it was in the movie.

One of the reasons my husband insisted on going to see it on the big screen was because of the special effects. If you are into special effects you will enjoy the way he rides his motorcycle, leaving a trail of fire, even when he rides it up skyscrapers and across rivers.

One of my favorite actors, Sam Elliott, was the caretaker of the cemetery where the contract is hidden. He knows more than he should about things and it becomes apparent why he knows so much eventually. One thing he cautions Johnny about is caring about anybody. Unfortunately, the evil guys soon find out his love for Roxanne.

Did You Know?
The motorcycle in this movie was awesome! You would have to see it to believe it!
