Nextel's I836 - An Instant Classic

Most Nextel's are loved for their tough and rouged designs and hated for their ample girth. The i836 is Nextel's attempt at combining a sturdy work phone and a sleek design. Nextel itself has said the i836 "is an instant classic". The i836 offers the same feature sets as most of the other Nextel phones before it. This phone is a small, sleek, sturdy phone that a lot of users will enjoy; the only downfall is the short battery life with this unit. The only other problem I had with mine; when I used it was the display both of them lacked good quality. The i836 will cost you $299 which is a little more than I think the unit deserves.

The i836 is a fresh design for Nextel, who are primarily known for their large, bulky phones that have become almost a trademark of the company. The i836 is small, light weight (only 3.6 ounces) and will fit perfectly in your pocket without any discomfort. It's not the smallest phone in the world but its small compared to most of its kin in the Nextel family.

You can get the i836 in two colors, bronze or silver, I prefer the silver but bronze wasn't all that bad. The design isn't like most other Nextel's it doesn't use angles instead it has sleek curves that contour to your hand. It is still just as rugged as the other Nextel's and meets the Military 810F specs for weather. Just because Nextel has added some beauty to this phone doesn't mean it lacks any of the brawn, it is still just as tough and durable as every other Nextel.

Like I said before the two screens that the phone offers are pretty weak compared to most of the phones Nextel offers. It has a monochrome external display that shows the time, signal strength, battery life, and caller ID. Inside it has a small 1.75 inch display with 26,000 colors, but when most of the Nextel phones have a 64,000 color display or better, the i836's screen isn't very impressive.
