Kevin Henkes is a children's book author who has given the world of children's literature some wonderfully endearing stories, mostly about childlike mice with typical childrens' issues. Sheila Rae the Brave, Chrysanthemum, Julius, Owen, Lilly, Chester, Wemberly and Wendell. Kevin Henkes has written other stories, mostly featuring animals. His Kitten's First Full Moon, won the coveted and prestigious Caldecott book medal for best illustrations in a childrens' book.

This activity book would be great follow-up or preparation for any event that your child is anticipating. Bibliotherapy, or problem-solving using literature is especially therapeutic for young children or special needs children who struggle to find their own voice. Seeing a a cute, funny little mouse experience similar events and feelings is tremendously reassuring.

Lilly is the funny little girl mouse who so charmed us with her purple plastic purse, movie star glasses and three quarters. There is a little child in all of us who can relate to Lilly's love for her treasures and her desire to play with them at any price, despite her teacher, Mr. Slinger's request to play with them after school.
