Anglina Jolie's Vietnam Adoption Sped Up

The latest news about Angelina Jolie's recent adoption application in Vietnam is that the process has been sped up.

According to the head of Vietnam's International Adoption Department, Vu Dug Long, all that is left to complete in Angelina Jolie's adoption process are the final pieces of paperwork. These are expected to be completed within the next couple of weeks. When the paperwork is final Angelina Jolie will then be allowed pick up the child in Vietnam.

It is believed the child Angelina Jolie is to adopt is a young boy aged 3 ½. In speaking to the Associated Press, Nguyen Van Trung, the director of Tam Bihn orphanage said that the boy has been living at the orphanage since he was a baby. He also stated that the boy had been abandoned as a baby at the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital. The Tam Binh orphanage attempted to find the boy's biological parents but without success.

The associated press has quoted Van Trung as saying, "he is in good health" and "he is a little bit shy." Van Trung also said that the boy really enjoys playing soccer, something Angelina's other adopted son Maddox also loves to play.

The reasons given by the Tam Binh orphanage for the speedy adoption process is because the boy is an older child. Because of his age the necessary papers regarding the boy were almost complete at the time Jolie filed her adoption application.

Normally adoptions of children from Vietnam take around six months. It is sometimes possible to greatly speed up the application if background checks get done very fast. Angelina Jolie made her adoption application at the start of March. If everything is completed in a couple of weeks as expected then Angelina Jolie will be able to take the child in April.

According to the Tam Binh orphanage director, Van Trung, the boy Angelina Jolie is set to adopt was not chosen by her. The boy was recommended by the orphanage, something that is done with every adoption application.

The adoption application has been filed solely by Angelina Jolie. This is because Vietnamese law does not allow unmarried couples to adopt.
