Married couples will face problems from time-to-time. Many overcome the obstacle and maintain a loving relationship. On the other hand, some couples use opposition as an excuse to end the marriage. With the high divorce rate, many people are hesitant to get married. They reason, "what's the point, it'll probably end in divorce." There are many reasons that justify a divorce such as a spouse's repeated infidelity. Then again, many couples file divorce papers for trivial matters. Sometimes, a divorce can be avoided. If a couple once enjoyed a loving and fun relationship, a temporary marriage separation could be a solution. 1. If couples would take a time-out before problems escalate, many divorces could be prevented. When an ongoing problem threatens a marriage, couples need to address the problem quickly. Often times, simply addressing the issue does not improve the situation. Couples develop a dislike for each other, and choose to dissolve the marriage. It can be difficult to work on marital problems in a tension-filled environment. All it takes is a wrong look or an inconsiderate remark to spiral the couple backwards. In this case, couples might separate and work on their problems apart.
2. Flawed personality traits contribute to a lot of marital problems. For example, one spouse might have a selfish tendency and unwilling to compromise, whereas the other might have a temper. When problems creep into a marriage, it's easy to point fingers and not recognize our role. If a couple wants to stay married, an amicable separation let's them reflect on their personality and make character adjustments.
3. Fighting constantly is not good for the children. Even if a couple plans on working out their differences and staying married, the in-between stage could be traumatic for young children. Children may blame themselves, withdraw, or become depressed. Many couples choose to stay together for the kids. Yet, if each day is filled with shouting and fighting, staying together causes more damage.
