Restaurant Review - Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, Louisville, Ky

If you're a native to Louisville, you're probably familiar with the Kaden Tower located just off I-264 at Breckenridge Lane. It's the beautiful building that many people describe as "lacy". You're also most likely aware that there is a restaurant at the top of the tower. For years this was occupied by a mundane restaurant that capitalized more on its location and view of the city, rather than its culinary offerings.

Not so now that Ruth's Chris Steakhouse has become the tenant. We had occasion to eat at this fine establishment a few weeks ago, and I am here to report that this restaurant now ranks as my number one choice for a special evening meal. The evening we went, it was cold and snowy out, and when we pulled into the lot, we were delighted to find that valet parking was offered ($10). Normally I wouldn't indulge in this luxury, but since the weather was indeed frightful, as the old song goes, we gladly paid the fee and walked directly into the building, without slipping and sliding in our dress shoes across a snowy, slushy parking lot.

The restaurant is at the top of the Tower, and the elevator whisks you right up. The elevator is quite roomy, with ample room for a wheelchair to enter, and then turn around easily. When we stepped off the elevator, we were greeted by with a warm smile by the hostess and coat attendant. We were assisted with taking off our coats, and they were hung in the back room, while the hostess called for someone to come and escort us to the table. Both me and my husband were both wearing black dress slacks, and so our escort exchanged the white cloth napkins for black, so that we would not get lint on our clothing.

Immediately after being seated, a young man came with a tray of various waters for us to choose from. We chose the Pellegrino ($6.95) for that evening. Our waitress then came and advised us of the evening's specials, and offered a suggestion for our wine for the evening. We chose a St. Supery white wine ($14, glass) which was a lovely complement to all the courses of our meal.
