Through all my disappointments, I snorted another solid line of meth until it was fucking gone. Had you ever seen an angel? None seemed to go my way.
I wished I was on the highway. I didn't even care where I would be driving to, as long as the highway was open. Another manic Monday night, and I had the desire to get as far away from here as possible.
I stumbled into your existence, and now your presence may never leave my reality again. Maybe there was something worth keeping from me after all. Well, I knew we had found beauty in each other. I got stories that you'd never believe; they were embellished with lies anyway. I couldn't let you smother me, but I was having a hard time understanding my emotions, so that was why I ran back to you.
It was going to be a long walk away from you. Maybe I should have stayed there for awhile instead, allowed you to indulge in my lips. How many times would it take me to finally leave you? I'd like to, but it couldn't work because I wore my heart on my sleeve around you.
You were standing in the doorway, all cool while I was stranded. I heard your laughter at the faults of others. You had a beer in your hand, working on your fifth or maybe your sixth. Maybe I could make a trade off because there must have been something you needed more than alcohol. Maybe that something was me.
It was four o'clock in the morning, and I took you with a glance. There was silence between the instant where you considered whether or not to let me cross the threshold. In another era, before I went crazy, I knew that I liked you. Now I was not so sure because I'd lost everything right here in the rain.
You opened the door, and I walked in, dripping wet, cold and broken. Old photographs on the wall of us brought tears to my eyes, but you couldn't tell because of the rain. I felt a halt in eternity as I reclaimed our universe of fears.
