Harry Potter fans in the United States eagerly awaiting the seventh and final instalment of the Harry Potter book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" will have their excitement boosted today with the announcement from Scholastic, the U.S. publisher of the Harry Potter books.

Scholastic has announced today that they will print 12 million copies of the new book in its first print run. This pretty much assures that no Harry Potter fan will be left wanted on release day. This is an enormous number and breaks all records for a book first print run. The next Harry Potter book will be released worldwide on July 21.

The last book of JK Rowling's most loved wizard Harry Potter will be released after a huge multi million-dollar campaign to promote it in the months leading up to its release. The popularity of the last Harry Potter book is expected to be so high that it will create one of publishing's biggest ever release events.

When speaking with the Associated Press the president of Scholastic Trade and Book Fairs said, "This is so much more than the publication of a single book." "It's a true celebration of the Harry Potter movement and of the joy of reading."

Rumours and theories are flying around the Harry Potter fandom as to whether Harry Potter will survive his final adventure. Harry Potter fans will also be anxious to know if Snape is really good or evil, if Harry Potter's two best friends, Ron and Hermione survive and what other characters make it or die in the book. JK Rowling has said to expect deaths. She has also teased Harry Potter fans by telling them one big character got a reprieve and will now live but another that was going to live will know die.

To date the Harry Potter series has been one of the biggest ever selling books. In total some 353 million books have been sold around the world and the book has been translated into 64 languages. The popularity of the book has created an entire franchise that includes the extremely popular Harry Potter movies and a variety of merchandise.
