Taken, starring Liam Neeson (Chronicles of Narnia, Star Wars), Famke Janssen (X-Men), and Maggie Grace ("Lost"), is a 2009 French action-thriller film which premiered in France on February 27, 2008 and in the U.S. on January 30, 2009. Taken released on DVD on May 12 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

Liam Neeson plays Bryan Mills, a retired Central Intelligence Agency spy who has given up his career and recently retired in Los Angeles to live close to his 17-year old daughter Kim (Maggie Grace). Kim now lives with Bryan's ex-wife Lenore (Famke Janssen) and her new, wealthy husband Stuart (Xander Berkeley). When Kim goes to Europe with a friend, a helpful local man befriends the girls at the French airport, shares a cab with the girls, and rides with them to the house where they are staying. He makes plans to come over later - which he does, with a gang of masked men, and they kidnap the two American girls.

Kim's father hears her kidnapping take place while they are talking on the phone. Bryan flies to France and begins to hunt down the men who kidnapped his daughter. He discovers Kim has been taken by by Albanian slave traders operating in France where she will probably be drugged and auctioned to the highest bidder. He learns that he has about a 96-hour window to find his daughter before she will disappear forever. Time is running out and Brian Mills must put his CIA expertise to the test to beat the clock, not only against the Albanian criminal organization, but also against corrupt officials.

Taken can be successfully compared to the Bourne trilogy and even the Die Hard franchise as one man with few resources except his own skill is pitted against a dangerous organization. Liam Neeson is, well, Liam Neeson. He does every role well and comes across flawlessly as a both an overly-protective father and a refined but deadly killing machine. This is an action movie, so there is not a great deal of deep dialog in Taken, but if you like an action-packed movie, Taken is a satisfying night at the movies - even at home on your DVD player.

Taken is 90 minutes long and is rated PG-13
