Are you not getting paid enough for the work that you put in? Or do you feel that your opinions are not listened to and respected in the way others opinions have been treated in the office? These are obviously signs that you are working for the wrong company. Don't miss out on the opportunity to get a new job, especially while you are still young and able.Have you learned anything new?
Do you feel that you are stuck in a rut? Chances are that you are not learning anything new in your current job. This is a sign that you need to move on because if you are not learning anything new, then there is absolutely no reason why you should move up in the world career-wise. Take a break and think about the position you are in now. Have you been moving in new directions as far as projects are concerned? Or are you still pencil pushing the same paperwork like you have been for the last three months? Remember that in a way, the company has also got to work for you. If it is not growing, then as an individual you are not growing either. Perhaps now is the time that you pick up the paper or surf the Internet classifieds sections.
What have you heard?
Have you heard rumors on anything about your company and where it is headed? Stay on your toes and listen for the news on what deals your company is getting itself into. Stay sharp because if there are any mergers taking place, chances are that there will be changes in employment as well. You don't want to wake up one day only to find out that you were retrenched because a new company didn't think you were fit enough to be a part of a new merger. Also be aware of rumors of people leaving and people getting fired. It's always safe to be paranoid and ready to know if you are headed in that direction. And if you are, it is best to quit and move on to a better job than to have on your record that you were retrenched or fired.
