Here I am
Ethereal, floating, soaring
Through azure clouds and midnight sky,
The untested heights of our love
So vast, so pure and overwhelming.
My new wings, the ones you gave to me,
Keep me aloft, borne on the updrafts
Of the crescendos in the melody of our love
They are white, like snow and like your soul.
As I soar, I soar with you always;
You are at my side,
My own guiding star through the midnight hue
Of the skies of our love
And I know that I am yours, because you tell me.
As I float through the midnight sky and the azure clouds,
The pearlescent moon and the crystalline stars,
Sometimes I lose sight of you, there in those clouds
That we pass through, obscuring the vision
Of you in the skies of our love.
And sometimes I fall.
Sometimes I plummet towards the sea like midnight,
And I feel as a falling star must feel, lost and alone
As I rush to the inky waves, the yawning swells.
Yet as I fall, Icarian in my plight,
And in my foolishness,
Always I hear from above a soft swish, a rush of air
And I look back to the sky.
And always you are there, an angel, my angel
With wings like mine, like snow,
And black hair flowing darker than the midnight sky,
Soft and fragrant.
Always you plunge with me, after me,
And as you near me, I can see into your eyes
The richest, deepest brown, not quite black,
And in them I see reflected the best of myself once more.
And always you catch me, you come upon me
With a rush of sweet cool air from above the azure clouds
And we slow as you enfold me, encompass me fully
In your wings, white as your soul.
And then I am in your embrace, and you in mine
Our lips touch as we rush upward, spinning once again
Upon the crescendos in the melody of our love
And the light of us dims the moon and the stars.
Here I am once more
Ethereal, floating, soaring
Through azure clouds and midnight sky
Now to be your guiding star always,
And bring you again skyward when you fall.
Ethereal, floating, soaring
Through azure clouds and midnight sky,
The untested heights of our love
So vast, so pure and overwhelming.
My new wings, the ones you gave to me,
Keep me aloft, borne on the updrafts
Of the crescendos in the melody of our love
