5 Good Reasons Not to Get a Body Piercing

Body piercing has been and continues to be a very large trend in culture all over the world. Body piercing is very prominent in today's youth in the US, particularly in ages 17 to 24, in both men and women. Although certainly the two genders tend to differ slightly in what body parts they get pierced (nose rings, belly button rings, a combination of exotic ear piercings, tongue, lip, and eyebrow rings are only some, not excluding the unmentionables), both run the same kinds of risks.

So next time you are at your local tattoo parlor considering a body piercing, remember these 5 reasons NOT to get pierced.

1.) Your body may have a bad reaction to a number of things involved in the process of getting a new piercing. Your body may reject the actual piercing seeing it as a foreign object, and instead of healing, it will push the piercing from your skin, creating a nasty wound that could heal very awkwardly.

2.) Infections are a big risk when taking on a piercing, you might create an infection at the site of the piercing. This could be due to poor care, or your body might just not like what you did to it, and is unable to heal properly. It might also have an infectious reaction to the metal of the ring.

3.) Piercings will also limit your employment opportunities. If you are in need of work, it is highly suggested you not wear body piercings that are visible. It is usually custom, although it varies in different areas, for the males not to have earrings, and for the females to only have the lobes pierced (assuming it is a professional workplace). Some places allow piercings, like convenient stores or other limited opportunity jobs, however, if you are looking for a career path, most employers do not appreciate exotic piercings when you go into an interview.
