Talking About Sex with Teens

Most parents do not delve into the subjects of sex with their children. They are hesitant to open up topics about sexual matters fearing that it's taboo. In turn, their children, sensing that their parents are too self -conscious, refrain from entering into a discussion. Except that teenagers have lots of qestion in mind that are just waiting to be answered. Ours is a permisssive society. It isonly proper for parents to initiate their children into the subject of sex.

Concerning the matter of preserving one's virginity for one's weding day, parents should be the first to provide good family values to their children. Parents be able to give logical and reasonabe cause why they should abstain from premarital sex. The following research will add up to your teenager's fromation of proper values.

1. Purity result n good self-image. --- If your sons or daughters engages in premarital sex, sooner or later, he/she will have problems with self-respect . It will damage their sel-esteem. Knowing that they did not exercise self-control, they will loose their high regard of of themselves.

2 Learn the virtue of self-control.--- When a young girl engages in premarital sex, she will more then likely go and on. This will lead to a weak decision making not only on sexual matters but probably in other area of her life. This may even lead to promiscuity because sex will become casual and offhand. She will end up viewing sex without any moral responsibilty. Self control leads to self dscipline. For those who easily give in, the question is, are they willing to face the consequences of their actions.

3. Unplanned parenthood/illegitimate children. --- You may ask your son if he's ready to raise a child who will be brought out into the world and declared illegitamte. Ask him if he's willlng to face the consequences of damaging the life of the girl he loves. If you have a daughter, reason wit her if she wants to become an unwed mother in the future. That she will raise a child without a father. The insurmountable problems and responsibilities that are sure to arise in the future far outweigh the physical pleasure of premarital sex.
