In the summer of 2008, I moved to the cosmopolitan town of Bloomington Indiana. As a new resident of Bloomington, I needed to find a new salon and a particularly good hair stylist. I soon learned that this can be a very difficult aspect of moving to a new town. When it came time to get a new hair do', I scanned the phone book for something that seem classy enough. I came upon many familiar salons that I would never be caught dead at today, and I found many names of unfamiliar salons. Frankly, I felt a little overwhelmed and made the decision to pick one that seemed to know what they were doing.

I regret to tell you that I went to a salon called Studio 6. Out of all of the salons to choose from, to this day I am not quite sure why I picked this one. During my first 10 minutes in this salon, I noticed three very obvious things - these things should have been enough to send me somewhere else, but for the time pressured college student that means a lot of extra time. First, I noticed that the place was loud, and this was much due to the obnoxious beauticians chatting with one another, back and forth from their chairs. It was also do to the fact that the place was quite under decorated, almost all of the furniture was made of a hard material. So, between the loud hair stylists and the tin-can-atmosphere, it was rather hard to relax.

Secondly, I noticed all of the hair on the floor. I understand, this is a salon, but. . .the place was dirty. When you are getting your hair cut you want to know that the person cutting your hair pays attention to detail. It was very apparent to me that these beauticians cared nothing for details of this salon.

After I was sitting down to get my hair hacked off, I noticed the third thing. An exposed electrical wire, running the length of the wall under this beautician's vanity. This was not the type of electrical wire that should be seen in a decent business. My father was a contractor for 15 years, and I am very familiar with this type of wiring. Usually this type of wire is used to connect an electrical outlet to the breaker box, and it is generally either hidden in the walls or at least ran through conduit.
