CarpetWorld & Furniture Gallery: A Stylish Surprise Just South of Murray, Kentucky
If you are looking for home furnishings in the Purchase region of Western Kentucky or Northeast Tennessee, look no farther than CarpetWorld and Furniture Gallery in Puryear, TN. I was pleasantly surprised by the wide selection of brands and prices -- not to mention the eclectic collection of goods!
I was in the market for a sofa, but ended up buying a sofa AND love-seat for $699. That is not to say that all of their furniture was cheap. They had an amazing wood, fabric, and leather sofa from Paladin with a sticker price of just over $3000 as well, with dozens of items in between. CarpetWorld carries national brands like Broyhill, Bassett, and Flexsteel. However, they also carry higher end lines like Paladin and Hooker alongside affordable ones such as Advantage, Hardin, and Powell.
And the accessories!! I found several lamps under $150, quite a few being below $100. Apparently they just made a huge order of those items and had a ton to choose from. There were metal giraffes and giant yellow ceramic apple. My favorite was a contemporary elephant on skinny legs about fourteen inches long.
I was interested to see that they had an in-house interior designer. She offered me a free thirty minute walk-through of my house. I have not yet taken her up on that offer, but I hope to in the near future.
CarpetWorld really surprised me. I had been to several furniture stores in region; some in bigger cities, some with bigger name brands. Most had nearly the same items. However, none of them had the mix that CarpetWorld & Furniture Gallery did, nor the range of prices. There was a very open-minded decorating style, incorporating both taste and variety, that I did not expect in such a rural area.
The staff was very courteous as well. Their approach was quite personal and helpful. We discussed what I was looking for, as well as my budget. After looking the store over, alongside a few catalouge pages, I ended up with more furniture than I had originally planned while actually staying within that budget! So I didn't really feel "upsold," or like I had been talked into more than what I wanted or could afford.
