The Young America's Foundation recently published its list of the top 10 most bizarre and politically correct college courses in America. I found this list to be fascinating, and decided to share it with Associated Content readers and content producers. So here it is, along with orignal commentary from me, for your reading pleasure.

10. Nonviolent Responses to Terrorism: This course offered by Swarthmore College uses the struggle of black Americans in the 1960s as a model for a peaceful response to terrorism. I have to say up front that this whole idea is ridiculous. How do you not respond in kind to violent attacks perpetrated against innocent civilians? Haven't we learned over the years that every time we try to understand terrorist motives, or engage in dialogue with those who commit terrorist acts, we embolden our enemies to strike at us again? Rarely has a terrorist group ever sought to work out differences through non-violent means. When they do engage in dialogue, it is often replaced with more violence as their demands increase.

9. American Dreams / American Realities: The goal of this course from Duke University is to expose "such myths as 'rags to riches,' 'beacon to the world,' and the 'frontier,' in defining the American character." In other words, it seeks to debunk the entire notion of an American dream. As for beacon to the world, is there a better country on Earth?

8. Cyberfeminism: Cornell University offers this intellectual undertaking that looks into "the emergence of cyberfeminism in theory and art in the context of feminism / post feminism and the accelerated technological developments of the last 30 years of the 20th century." What?

7. Mail Order Brides--Understanding the Philippines in Southeast Asian Context: From Johns Hopkins. Yes, folks, this is an actual college course.

6. Whiteness--The Other Side of Racism: This course from Mount Holyoke College covers topics such as "What is whiteness" and "How is it related to racism?" I have a problem with any college offering that starts with the premise that being white is associated with being racist.
