Why is it that doctors needs to make calculated predictions of when the end will occur for a patient who is in a terminal state? I guess they believe they owe it to the patient to give them notice that their time is short here on earth. But isn't there a better way of expressing it? Are they psychic? Even psychics make oversights. So if there is a chance of an oversight, even if it is given in a range of time, why say it?I'm sorry, but it really bothers me the way some doctors believe they require to provide a term sentence to terminal patients. Maybe it's a concern of litigation. Apparently, they must not be educated much on the emotional strength of the mind. Studies are showing that constructive thinking can provide beneficial impact. The human mind is very powerful. It can even shape pain and be compared to an analgesic dose of morphine. Why can't this way of positively thinking benefit those that might be terminally ill? How many times has it been shown that "a miracle" occurred to someone who was given 3 months to live, only for them to live many years beyond what was expected.
Love and support can go very much further than dismissing a person's life. Research is revealing this. So why aren't they actively encouraging this point of view? They should provide them the realities, but from an encouraging point of view allowing them to benefit from the power of their mind. What is the harm? Or, do they believe it is new age garble? Well, it's not.
