Eragon was an adaptation of the book Eragon by Christopher Paolini. Paolini was just 18 when this book came out. He has become what I aspire to be because we had the same background (home school), only he wasn't poor. The Story:
An elf princess by the name of Arya was going along in the woods when she was suddenly ambushed. After a terrible battle, with the last of her strength, she lifts up a stone and makes it disappear in a large flash of light....
Eragon has just become a man. He is perfectly happy with living the life of a poor farmer. For meat, he hunted, and for vegetables he either grew them or traded for what he needed.
One day, when he was in the forest hunting, he had just found the perfect deer and was about to shoot it when there was a sudden flash of light and an explosion. When the smoke cleared away, there was a beautiful blue stone.
With his hunt ruined, he decided to take the stone with him because he thought it was valuable and he could use it to get meat for his family.
Several days later, the stone started shaking and rolled around when it fell off of the shelf it was on, it broke. And a newborn dragon came out of it. When Eragon touched it, he became branded with an intricate white mark on his palm.
When the Razac came looking for him- on the orders of the evil king Galbatorix, they killed the only father figure Eragon ever had. The town's storyteller, Brom made him leave with him. To protect him. They begin to head torward the haven for the Varden (people who are fighting against Galbatorix), called Farthen Dur, which is also the home of the dwarves.
Brom teaches Eragon magic, how Eragon's relationship with Saphira, the dragon is supposed to work, and so much more.
Eragon begins seeing a vision of an elf princess-who is held captive by the Shade, Durza (who works for Galbatorix)-which turns out to be Arya and learns that he must save her. And Eragon must get her to Farthen Dur as soon as possible, because Arya has been poisoned.
Along the way, they meet Murtagh, an ally in their cause who saves Eragon's life more than once.
