Best Wineries and Vineyards in Pennsylvania's Bucks County

2
Among its many attractions, Bucks County, Pennsylvania features some great wineries. As an avid wine connoisseur, I appreciate the low key and relatively non-crowded nature of Bucks County wineries. The wine itself is quite good, even to so-called "wine snobs" and many of them offer great extras, such as guided tours, food and fruit picking.

The following are the seven best Bucks County wineries.

Sand Castle Winery
755 River Road
Erwinna, Pennsylvania

Since 1987, Sand Castle has been producing great wine from its own vineyards. They painstakingly produce their wine, with an understanding of how the unique and somewhat extreme seasons in Bucks County (harsh winters and hot humid summers) affect the product. They also understand how their proximity to the Delaware River can potentially both help and hurt their wines, and manage the process accordingly. Sand Castle Winery is a true Bucks County original.

In addition to their understanding of the wine making process, the management has made this winery a fun and well run place for visitors. Sand Castle Winery offers a full banquet room and special prices for groups.

One of the highlights of the Sand Castle Winery is the "Castle Wine Club". Free to join, the club provides members with free wine cellar visits, discounts on wine purchases and wine tastings complete with great cheeses and chocolates.

Fratelli Desiato Vineyard and Winery
522 Dark Hollow Road
Pipersville, Pennsylvania

Open from Wednesday through Sunday, from 11:00AM to 4:00PM (with Tours available throughout each day), the The Fratelli Desiato winery offers a number of great Pennyslvania wines, both 'classic' and organic. Reds include Chianti, Dolce Vita, Rosetto, Naso Di Prete, and they offer a delicious white wine as well, Campagnolo Chardonnay.

The Fratelli Desiato Vineyard and Winery takes particular pride in the environmentally friendly way they run their vineyard, with solar power, recycled rain water and soil friendly fertilizer.
