My Experience with Internet Dating-The Men on EHarmony

From all the advertising I heard regarding eHarmony, I thought this is the one. Was I wrong. By the time I got to trying eHarmony I was so frustrated with internet dating services. I had already tried most of the well know dating websites. I was very open with the profiles I posted, and
what I was looking for in a man, and a relationship. Although, I have a master's degree, I was very much open to all educational levels, professions, and income levels. I just wanted a nice man. By the age of 50, I had been through many trials and tribulations over the years, including 2 marriages, and 2 engagements, to "The Wrong Men". I admit it, I made bad choices. But now, after years of counseling, and studying seven years in college to be a counselor, I was ready to make a "Good" choice for myself. I knew what to look for, and I was ready to go.

I remember being so excited when I went to the eHarmony website. I took the tour, and actually read everything. How many people do that? I was ready to take the "Scientific Relationship Questionnaire", which helps you to see what type of relationships are good for you, and really make you aware of what your looking for. Then I got to move on to the "In Depth Personality Profile", a free ($40) value. It was long, but very thorough. I was really impressed. I couldn't wait to get started.

After becoming a member you start receiving "Highly Compatible Matches", which you get to accept, or reject. If you choose a match, and they choose you, you then start to communicate. There's these great 'Must Haves" and "Can't Stands" questions you can send each other, to find out more about what your match must have in a relationship, or person, and the things they can't stand in a person or relationship. I thought it was a great idea. After all, why even bother communicating if some of those must haves and can't stands are incompatible. Again I am impressed with eHarmony.

Very interesting. My sister "met" (online) some guys thru EHarmony, but most all never wanted to meet in real life. One did, but was scared to death to meet again. She ended up marrying someone she met in her own town. All the EHarmony ads sure sound good, but the reality I think is usually pretty different ...

What Adam said is right. I think people should basically know what their own body type is and expect someone similar.

Don't be fooled by the males search for the "petite slender blonde". I am a 'petite slender blonde' with brains. I have dated many men I have met online but whether your 'petite' or heavy they are only interested in taking care of what is between their legs!!!

You know i have done eHarmony for a while and as a man I can tell you I get the same experience but going in the opposite direction. All these women seem to want "Ken." It goes both ways. Also, I wouldn't read to much into the "overweight" can't stand. I sympathize with that pick because 90 percent of the matches they send me weigh 180 pounds or more and don't look remotely healthy. I am very healthy, fit and work out regularly. I don't think that's shallow, depends on what the guy is looking for really.

I never got as far as you did, apparently since I left God and Jesus out of the 5 Things I Couldn't Live Without! (See my AC article, Does eHarmony Discriminate Against Non-Christians?) But I'm not surprised. Every personal ad I see in papers have men looking for "petite, slender blondes" - and since I'm none of those things, and actually use my brain, I too am put off by the shallowness. I'd rather just stay single!

Really great description of how eharmony works. I'm coming to the same opinion of them.
