Birthday Hats Are Good Clean Fun

Since posting my profile picture wearing my red hat, I've had a lot of inquiries about what I was doing in the picture. I call this my "pimp hat" picture.

A couple of years ago when I was turning...umm...29 again, my kids decorated me for my little birthday get-together that was held at P.F. Chang's in Sugar Land, Texas.

I suppose I started it all when I bought a couple of hats and tiaras for my grown kids' birthday dinners. They think I have a bit of a bodacious personality so they thought a red, shiny patent leather pimp hat with faux fur around the brim would express my true nature. I must say they are right. On the inside, I'm definitely a red pimp hat.

Last February after the red pimp hat incident, my son had his 26^th birthday. I really don't understand this since I had just turned 29, but I digress. The day before my son's birthday, he sent the following e-mail to the family:

"Fuddruckers on saturday night.

I accept birthday gift in Paypal, cash, euros, pesos, credit cards, gift cards, gas cards,

microsoft points, and rainchecks. I also accept flat screen t.v.'s video games (halo 3),

xbox 360 accessories, mp3 players, laptop computers, and corvette parts.

Please, no party hats or festive attire. I will not wear it and most likely tell the cops that

you are stalkers after me."

The funny thing about the pimp hat party is that we had a long, leisurely birthday dinner at P.F. Chang's and nobody stared. Nobody seemed to think a middle-aged...I mean young and beautiful...woman in a red pimp hat was anything out of the ordinary.

Certainly, not everyone would be willing to wear a pimp hat into a nice restaurant during their busiest time, but birthday hats for adults can be fun. If you decide on a surprise red pimp hat then you might consider taking along your stun gun as it could come in quite handy if the birthday adult attacks you.

Just in case you are the birthday boy or girl then let me warn you that if someone says, "Mom (or Dad), wear black because black matches everything," there could be a strange surprise headed your way.
