David Letterman and Sarah Palin: An Unhealthy Fixation

Misogyny from the Left

David Letterman seems to have an unhealthy fixation with Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Second on the "Top Ten Highlights of Sarah Palin's Trip to New York" was the following laugh-out-loud gem:

"Bought makeup at Bloomingdales to update her slutty flight attendant look."

One wonders where David Letterman (or the writer who compiled the top ten list) got that one? This writer's impression of Sarah Palin is that of a somewhat prim, but attractive librarian or school teacher, albeit one who can fire a rifle, field strip a moose, can govern a state, and might one day be President of the United States. But slutty? Not at all and to say so says more about David Letterman than Sarah Palin.

But David Letterman, who opined during the campaign how alluring he thought Sarah Palin is, was not through with the Palin family. He made a joke about Palin's daughter Willow being sexually assaulted by a baseball player in New York. Willow Palin, by the way, is fourteen years old.

Sarah Palin is said not to be amused, as no mother can be, though her reaction was laced with cheerful contempt rather than uncontrolled anger that most mothers might justifiable feel. Yet David Letterman would very much like to have Sarah Palin on his show. That's not likely to happen, but contemplating the idea of what might occur as a result certainly has its pleasures.

One can always tell how much the left hates and fears a conservative by the kind of ad hominem approach it uses to attack him—or in this case her. Ronald Reagan was an "amiable dunce", at least until he won the Cold War and thus became a world historic figure. George W. Bush, who liberated fifty million human souls and whose economic stewardship is beginning to look like a golden age alongside that of the present POTUS, was a drunken frat boy.
